Just a Fraction of a Table
I love clever little thangs. This is definitely a clever little thang if I do say so myself. From the fabulous mind of industrial designer Josh Tuminella comes this table by the name of “Square Root.” I bet you can tell why. It’s made out of less than 10 individual pieces and one of them is “biscuits.” Be there!
The pieces are as follows: walnut, aluminum, biscuits, glue, and 4 screws. It’s designed to be repaired easily in the case of a wild house cat or a serial murderer rampaging through your house and it “absorbs dings and nicks to display the personality and identity of the user.”
I think that last sentence is code for: gets scratches like every other table, but that’s definitely o.k. And it is! Beaten up tables, man, people pay a lot of money for that look!

Discovery of Water on Moon Means that Lunar Service Station is Possible
Many environmentalists argue that it’s important to focus our attention on Earth’s problems before venturing off into space, but the recent discovery of water on the moon means that exploring other planets could be easier than ever. Now that an Indian mission has discovered hydrogen and oxygen molecules on the lunar surface, the planet can be used as an outer space “service station”, prepping astronauts for their journeys into deep space.

Grono lamp that’s a tune
Another lamp to brighten your day. This one is from Tom. Aah … reminds me of my old mix tapes.
“I saw this on Gizmodo and thought ‘I can do that! It turns out the Grono table lamp is exactly on cassette tape width wide. All you do is lay out a 4×4 grid of tapes (missing one for the cable to come out) and tape them together with clear sticky tape. Then just fold it around your Grono lamp and you’re done.”

Iris makes a big bold light for her room by mating 2 Ikea lamps together.
“As a renter, I find it difficult to hang ceiling lamps in an attractive way without either permanent damage or cords everywhere. And so, I hacked together an Ikea Rimfrost ceiling chandelier shade, with another Ikea lamp shade, and an Ikea Januari lamp base to turn the ceiling lamp into a table lamp. The only additional materials the hack required was a bit of wire, to combine the two shades together. My step-by-step photos are here. But it’s essentially a really simple hack.”
Geeky Bacon Shoes Are Not For Eating
It is true that many of the different Bacon items look appetizing and could be somewhat confusing for the Bacon lovers, but these cool shoes are definitely not for eating and would just make you walk more…perhaps shed the calories from eating the greasy bacon.
The Bacon shoes are actual Keds shoes that have been fortunate enough to be designed and printed with the Bacon all over. The different shades of meat, combined with the fats make this shoe something of an All American fashion item.
Not sure about you, but along with the Bacon Tattoo and the Bacon wallet, you could really walk around and be proud of loving such a food item.

Brad Pitt Receives Award From USGBC For Making It Right
If all rich and famous actors used their superpowers for good the way that Brad Pitt does, the world would be a much better place! Last week at the Clinton Global Climate Initiative, the altruistic actor received an award from the USGBC for his commendable efforts to rebuild New Orleans with sustainable housing. Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation, a project near and dear to our hearts at Inhabitat, is working to rebuild a section of New Orleans that was badly hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. So far, only 13 houses have been rebuilt, but a total of 150 is planned, and will make a big difference in the lives of those families who move in.
